Here’s your gentle nudge to make your week more interesting, thoughtful and productive. You can always talk to me more about these ideas by replying to this email.
Optimising Your Average
There’s an ongoing war with the word: average. Everyone hates it. No one cares about it. Everyone wants to be above it or defeat it. Yet, in my experience, it has always been the only thing to focus on. The problem with average is the negative connotation of the word when it simply means the middle. That’s not a bad place at all. To elaborate, consider your average day. How much do you enjoy the usual Tuesday afternoon? What can you do to make it better?
I’ve learned the key to a happier life is not in having more eventful days. Rather, it is in optimising and increasing your average. You can only have so many epic days, but every day can be fantastic if you are in sync with your middle. You need to enjoy the days when nothing different happens. My argument isn’t to live a life without attempting to grow or stay stagnant or complacent. In fact, it’s the exact opposite.
The idea is to make your middle so good, you don’t feel the need to escape anymore.
What’s On My Mind?
The importance of appreciating others. A friend called me today, asked for a couple of minutes of my time, and told me how much they appreciate my work and art. It made my day honestly. Hands down, those were the best two minutes of a rather good day filled with great moments.
I hope this added some value to your week. Stay safe, stay inspired, and I’ll talk to you next week.
